Abstract
Hemoperitoneum is a life-threatening disorder usually found in association with abdominal trauma, ruptured ectopic pregnancy, or ruptured aortic aneurysm. It has not been previously reported as a complication of regional enteritis. This report describes an unusual patient with longstanding regional enteritis who had repeated episodes of intraperitoneal hemorrhage which were ultimately fatal. These episodes were characterized by severe abdominal pain and the presence of palpable abdominal masses, hypotension, and anemia without evidence of overt blood loss.
