The Kidney and Hypertension
Thomas F. Ferris, MD
Arch Intern Med. 1982;142(10):1889-1895.
Abstract
It is apparent that the kidney occupies a central role in control of arterial BP. Although a gratifying amount of information has been learned in the past several decades about the renal regulation of BP, many questions remain. However, I anticipate that with further research efforts, we will come to more completely appreciate Richard Bright's prescient observation, "I confess I am inclined to believe that the kidney is the chief promoter of the other derangements."
