Abstract
Hemopoiesis is a complex process that underlies the production of highly specialized cells. The mechanisms involved in this process include positive and negative feedback by humoral activities, pluripotent stem cell self-renewal and differentiation, and local interactions between stromal components of the hemopoietic microenvironment and various stem and progenitor cells.1
