I enjoyed reading the recent article by Dr Dalen1
in the ARCHIVES titled, "Health Care in America: The Good, the Bad, and the
Ugly." Although I have been retired a few years, I've seen enough of colleagues
who work in a state of emotional depression and discouragement or even cynicism.
For me the key sentence in Dr Dalen's article was the following: "Physicians
have lost the ability to guide the care of their patients."
As with our politics, our practice of medicine has been corporatized.
I begin to feel that I, as a person, do not belong to a country anymore but
to a few corporations.
