I recently received an e-mail outlining a study titled "Echinacea and Truth in Labeling," which appeared in the ARCHIVES March 24, 2003.1 I feel compelled to let readers know that there is a gross inaccuracy in the "Background" section of the article, which states that Echinacea represents 10% of the dietary supplement market in the United States. This statement is totally false. Echinacea does not represent anywhere near 10% of the dietary supplement market in the United States.
