We would like to take the opportunity to identify an error in our article published in the September 23, 2002, issue of the ARCHIVES.1
In Table 4, which represents the cost comparison of the projected costs and benefits of pneumococcal vaccination in 3 venues, the reported values in the row "Cost of care at index admission for patients with potential benefit" and the row "Cost-benefit ratio" did not match with the calculation method described. This discrepancy has stemmed from the fact that in our initial draft we had used $1350 as an overall average cost of 1-day hospitalization for the estimation of cost of care of patients with potential benefit from vaccination. However, on further cost analysis, we found that $1178 as average daily hospital cost, with $689 as 1-time administrative cost, provided more precise cost analysis. Unfortunately, we did not translate these changes into Table 4.
