We appreciate Mascitelli and Pezzettas comments on our article.1 They pointed out the association of serum ferritin level with NAFLD and metabolic syndrome.
It is reported that metabolic syndrome is also associated with various factors such as levels of inflammatory cytokines, C-reactive protein, and others along with serum ferritin level. However, it is not always one of these factors that is attributed to metabolic syndrome, and we focused on the association of metabolic disorders and NAFLD in nonobese, nondiabetic adults. Although we agree on the point that serum ferritin may be associated with both metabolic syndrome and NAFLD, we unfortunately did not measure the serum ferritin level.
