We thank Skiest and Cooper for their informative comments and welcome the opportunity to further discuss our study of CA-MRSA SSTIs in men who have sex with men in New York City, New York. We were asked about the rate of resolution of the SSTIs in our patients who had recurrence. All 100 patients had resolution of their original infection. As in the study by Skiest et al,¹ we also found no difference in recurrence rates with regard to initial choice of antibiotic. Recurrence occurred in 21 of 63 patients who received antibiotics that had activity against their CA-MRSA isolates, while recurrence occurred in 6 of 20 patients who received antibiotics that had no activity against their isolates (P > .99).
