Errors in Funding/Support, Role of the Sponsor, and Additional Contributions in: Physical Activity and the Association of Common FTO Gene Variants With Body Mass Index and Obesity

Arch Intern Med. 2009;169(5):453.

Errors in Funding/Support, Role of the Sponsor, and Additional Contributions: The Original Investigation titled "Physical Activity and the Association of Common FTO Gene Variants With Body Mass Index and Obesity," which was published in the September 8, 2008, issue of the Archives (2008;168[16]:1791-1797), contained omissions of the Funding/Support, Role of the Sponsor, and Additional Contributions paragraphs. The following information should have been included:

Funding/Support: The HAPI Heart Study receives funding from National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant U01 HL072515. Partial funding for this study was provided by the Clinical Nutrition Research Unit of Maryland, grant P30 DK072488; the University of Maryland General Clinical Research Center, grant M01 RR 16500; the Johns Hopkins University General Clinical Research Center, grant M01 RR 000052; and the Geriatric Research and Education Clinical Center, Baltimore Veterans Administration Medical Center. Dr Rampersaud was funded by a postdoctoral NIH/National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute–sponsored NRSA training grant T32HL072751.

Role of the Sponsor: As part of the PROGENI Network, this project was overseen by an NIH-appointed Data Safety and Monitoring Board.

Additional Contributions: We thank the Amish study participants and our Amish Research Clinic and laboratory staff for their extraordinary efforts.
