Although physician satisfaction with career choice has been assessed in a number of studies,^1-10 little is known about the prevalence of satisfaction of medical students with their career choice and the associated factors. It is well established that physicians' career satisfaction is related to mental health,^{1, 11-14} burnout,¹² and mood and empathy^13-14; provision of high-quality patient care¹⁵; patient satisfaction and compliance^{4, 16-18}; and physician retention and effectiveness.⁶ Medical students' satisfaction with their chosen profession is important because it potentially could lead to subsequent satisfaction as practicing physicians. We analyzed data from a national survey of US medical students to examine the factors associated with medical students' satisfaction with their career choice.
