This is a revised edition of a book which has proved itself an excellent clinical reference source during the past seven years. The book is written for the clinician, and each subject is approached from the standpoint of the clinician faced with the differential diagnosis of a congenital anomaly or an endocrine disorder which may be helped by treatment.

New chapters discuss the chemistry and physiology of the thyroid and adrenal hormones. The therapeutic use of cortisone in the adrenogenital syndrome stems from the author's pioneer work in this syndrome, which established its basic etiology. The author shows his acumen in withholding judgment of the clinical significance of the chromatin test in various genital malformations. He suggests that the term "intersex" be reserved for those cases which are not due to adrenal disorders.
