"Pediatric Cardiology" is an eminently readable account of the personal experiences of a mature leader in this field. The one real objection is related to the title of the book. It implies official recognition of a new specialty; it implies approval of further and farther cleavage in medicine, and it implies the issuance of an authoritative text. I hope that none of these implications have entered Dr. Nadas' mind, and, indeed, if the book had been entitled "pediatric aspects of cardiology," all would have been well, because this is what the book emphasizes. The volume is a welcome and often delightful supplement to anyone concerned with the clinical and laboratory aspects of heart disease. For him the text offers much that is useful and informative. For the pediatrician who desires to learn cardiology, the text should prove less serviceable, since many important aspects of general cardiology had to be treated . . .
