This twelveth edition of the Ciba Foundation Colloquia in Endocrinology is fairly typical in format of preceding volumes in this same series. A group of papers illuminating a basic aspect of development and study in endocrinology is presented, each by a man representing a specific discipline or study group related to the subject under discussion. Each of the papers, in turn, then is discussed by other members of the conference, all well known in the endocrine and biochemical fields.
There is extensive basic consideration of the anatomical, physiological, and biochemical characteristics of tumors of each of the endocrine glands, including the pituitary, both in the naturally occurring tumors in humans and in the experimentally induced tumors of these various types in animals.
