Twelve months ago, Gordan wrote this in his introduction to the 1957-1958 volume. "It is the intention of this volume to depict the endocrine literature, albeit in miniature. The articles selected for abstracting and presentation have been chosen because, in the opinion of your editor, they represent what is being reported. This is not a text book of endocrinology, and this year's literature does not necessarily cover every pertinent field, for which the interested reader is referred to one of the numerous excellent texts published in the past few years. Parenthetically, let me add that a particular effort is made to search out those articles which are not generally available in the Journals received by most American physicians.... Pertinent articles in all languages can be and are considered for inclusion here." Gordan has succeeded annually, and the current Year Book of Endocrinology is of the highest quality.
