With a deep sense of personal loss, the Editors of the A.M.A. ARCHIVES OF INTERNAL MEDICINE note the death, on Dec. 16, 1959, of Dr. Russell M. Wilder due to a massive cerebral accident.

Dr. Wilder served on the Editorial Board of the ARCHIVES from 1932 to 1953. He was admired by his colleagues for his warm qualities of friendliness, generosity, and fairness in his judgment of his fellow physicians and their written reports. A prolific investigator and author himself—he was the author of more than 250 scientific articles—he was also at one time or another on the editorial boards of the Journal of Nutrition and Nutrition Reviews, and he was an associate editor of "Public Health Reports" of the U.S. Public Health Service. He was author of "A Primer for Diabetic Patients," first published in 1921, and "Clinical Diabetes Mellitus and Hyperinsulinism," published in 1940.
