This volume includes discussions not only of the enzymes of polynucleotide metabolism and their structure and function but also discussions of the structure and properties of synthetic and other polynucleotides. The papers are highly technical and will prove to be excellent source material for anyone interested in the complicated details of polynucleotide metabolism. Since this is the basic chemistry of the gene and is responsible for the transmission of hereditary characteristics, it is an extremely important biochemical area.

This is not a book which is easily read or understood by the average physician or by the physician with a smattering of knowledge of the biochemistry of nucleic acids.
