Anyone who can promote 15s. (roughly $2.10) and likes to read charming medical essays should get a copy of this book while it is still in print. Though I had read some of the items in this collection when they appeared in the Practitioner, I was stimulated to obtain a copy by a comment Dr. Edmund E. Simpson sent me about my review of Barber's "The Rewards of Medicine." He pointed out that I had managed to misspell both of Sir Andrew Macphail's names in the review and that I might like to know something more of Hugh Barber's work. (In writing reviews, I rarely take time to make more than two draft copies, the final being typed from the original, which may have been revised several times. In order to speed up the inevitable three-to-six-month delay in printing, I do not get any galley proofs for correction. Regular readers
