This monograph, in German, concerns the entity which is known in the United States as the Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
The author has carefully reviewed all cases of this syndrome published in the medical literature since 1921 as well as described cases he has studied personally. These cases are analyzed according to (1) pigmentation of the skin and mucous membranes, (2) gastric and intestinal polyposis, and (3) hereditary factors, histology, and pathogenesis.
It is of interest that this monograph, which describes a condition serving as a connecting link between dermatology and internal medicine, was written by a dermatologist. It is a most comprehensive and well-written volume on this interesting syndrome and can be recommended to all internists, dermatologists, and surgeons.
