This volume presents postgraduate endocrinology—clinical, current, and choice. It is designed as Number One of a series of expansions and revisions of Progress in Clinical Endocrinology, published in 1950. In his preface to the present work, Dr. Astwood notes that should projected future volumes of the series "not transpire, the 'One' will at least serve as a distinctive mark of bibliopegic decoration!" He has assembled articles of clinical importance from 82 top-rank contributors. The subject matter is assembled under eight categories: pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, adrenal, reproductive system, hormone assays and special tests, and a miscellaneous group of selected topics. Virtually every major area of recent progress in endocrinology receives attention, especially where new work is changing current clinical practice.
