Few authors have had the temerity or audacity to write scientific articles on subjects dealing with teenagers. It is usually stated that teenagers can be endured but not understood. Dr. Gallagher is to be congratulated for tackling a difficult subject and carrying it off with success and finesse. This book supplies a deficiency created by the lack of a discussion of this subject in any great length in either textbooks of pediatrics or internal medicine. The subject material covered deals primarily with the needs and illnesses peculiar to the adolescent period. There is much of practical value in the sections dealing with methods of conducting interviews and physical examinations with adolescents. The need for special understanding at this age of transition is extensively covered. This book is especially valuable for the pediatrician and the internist. The former can gain rich experience by extending his medical care to include adolescents,
