With the rapid proliferation and release of so many new drugs, and even more combinations of old and new or slightly altered ones, paralled by a bizarre and bewildering variety of new names for them, it is imperative that the busy physician find some method of keeping abreast of the new information. The Physician's Desk Reference, Conn's Current Therapy, and the weekly or monthly journal are helpful toward this end, but a detailed discussion of the principles and practice of clinical pharmacology which makes some attempt to keep up to date had not been available until Modell's book first appeared in 1958-1959. Several chapters written by a number of physicians are arranged in different sections. They describe concisely the clinical indications for the drugs, consideration of the available ones, and data suggesting their comparative value. Also an attempt is made to point out flaws or deficiencies in the therapeutic armamentarium
