The revised edition of Congenital Malformations of the Heart, by Helen Taussig, again demonstrates the author's ability to handle a very complex topic in a clear, concise manner. Volume I is labeled "General Considerations," and Dr. Taussig has outlined in the general plan of the book, the embryology, the method of diagnosis, special diagnostic procedures, and the medical care. A considerable portion of the book deals with the problem of cyanosis, its normal physiologic conditions, clinical manifestations, and factors that affect cyanosis. The book is well bound, and the drawings, photographs, and reproductions are well labeled and clearly portrayed. This book is a storehouse of information for the initiate in pediatric cardiology, an excellent reference book for those who are well acquainted with congenital heart disease of infants and children, and would be an easy, relaxed review to those who are specialists in just this particular phase of medicine.
