This book has been written primarily for the physician whose concern is clinical toxicology. Accordingly, its content of practical information is extremely helpful in the treatment of poisoning. For example, the procedure for gastric lavage is presented in detail so that the inexperienced physician could proceed with confidence after reading the description. For this the authors should be commended. Most texts on toxicology do not provide the proper sequence of manipulations nor sufficient detail to be of much practical value in actual treatment.

Chapter IV on The Treatment of Poisoning is excellent in that it presents important features of therapy in a concise and clear manner. The confidence of any physician, whether he be an intern, resident, general practitioner, or specialist, in treating cases of poisoning would be greatly aided if he were familiar with the information in this chapter.
