This book provides a welcome clarifying addition to the therapeutic armamentaria against neoplastic diseases. Editor R. Lee Clark, Jr., M.D., orients the reader to the book in the introduction: "Chemotherapy... is presently undergoing the extensive study necessary for its mature development," and in the twelve subsequent chapters the co-contributors clarify various portions of this dynamic and changing arena. This is done in a knowledgeable, readable fashion. The book is organized nicely so that each chapter is directed specifically, i.e., "The Chemistry of Chemotherapeutic Agents," "Effects of Cancer Chemotherapeutic Agents Upon Cellular Metabolism And Composition," "The Malignant Lymphomas in Children," "The Malignant Lymphomas in Adults," "Solid Tumors in Adults," "Local, Systemic and Regional Chemotherapy as Adjuvants to Surgical Treatment," etc.
The reader may disagree with some personal observations cited by the authors. For example, the results of I131 therapy in thyroid cancer palliation seem unusually good, but the manner of
