The eighth volume of Antibiotica et Chemotherapia reviews the first International Symposium of Anti-Infectious and Anti-Mitotic Chemotherapy. The first half of the book is composed of three series of reports on Long Acting Sulfonamides, Antibiotics, and Chemotherapy of Malignant Diseases. The second half of the book contains five panel discussions: Sulfonamides in Antibacterial Chemotherapy, Resistant Staphylococci, Corticosteroids in the Treatment of Infectious Diseases, Chemotherapy of Cancerous Affections, and Grafting of Bone Marrow in Man. Many of the participants are distinguished investigators and the topics selected are of sufficient interest that it might be anticipated that the discussion periods would air many of the problems of antibacterial and antimicrobial chemotherapy frankly and impartially. Apparently, there was considerable reticence among the discussants to comment upon their colleagues' reports so that the discussions are quite brief and restrained.
