This book is the seventh in a series reporting seminars or symposia on current topics offered by the Division of Continuing Education in Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of California (Los Angeles) School of Medicine. The editors are both well known in the field of renal physiology and renal disease and have assembled an excellent group of contributors to further the scope of this volume. In the first 6 chapters basic physiology is presented. The dynamics of body water and electrolyte and the regulation of body water are discussed by the editors. The other chapters on regulation of major body electrolytes, regulation of pH of body fluid, disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, and normal metabolic requirements are presented by Drs.
