Introduction

Applying the criteria set forth by Godman and Churg¹³ in 1954, Walton²³ extracted 54 documented cases of Wegener's granulomatosis from the literature up to 1958. The review included Klinger's original case in 1931 and Wegener's two cases. The criteria employed were: (1) a necrotizing granulomatous process involving the upper or lower respiratory tract; (2) generalized necrotizing vasculitis involving arteries and veins, and (3) glomerulitis. Since the appearance of Walton's paper, reporting of similar cases has increased, and at present at least 22 new cases have been published in the American and English literature^* and 12 more in the European literature.^25-36 The following is a report of a case of Wegener's granulomatosis seen at the Boston City Hospital. One unique feature not described before is involvement of the pancreatic ducts, and, although an incidental finding, it illustrates a further complexity in the manifestations of this protean disease. . . .
