This book covers the proceedings of a conference held June 18-19, 1965, at the Royal College of Physicians of London. This was the first time that matters of geriatric interest had been specifically studied at the college. There were six chairmen and 21 speakers at the conference, which consisted of two sessions on clinical topics separated by a symposium which was followed by the F. E. Williams lecture.

Each of the individual contributions in the book is followed by a list of references that is of recent origin. These papers are brief and, in the main, optimistic. Data are, of course, related to the National Health Service.

Assorted impressions from the collection of papers presented at the conference relate to geriatrics as a whole and to specific problems of the aged.
