This concise book deals with interactions between antibodies, other plasma proteins, foreign proteins, microorganisms, and the surface of the human erythrocyte. Obviously, knowledge of German is a prerequisite, but linguistic mastery is not essential because of the author's style. He has facilitated comprehension by avoiding the long, convoluted sentences often found in German language books. The clarity resulting from his use of relatively short sentences and superbly logical presentation of material should make this book valuable to American and other "English language" readers who have but moderate knowledge of German.

Dr. Gramlich's considerable experience in immunohematology enables him to premise most of his information on personal experience and experimentation and to use good judgment in citing the contributions of other investigators.
