As does each one of this distinguished series, volume 23 of The Psychoanalytic Study of the Child richly deserves the valuable attention of every physician. Every insightful doctor of medicine discovers the central role his understanding of developmental psychology must play in his daily study of the nature and needs of his patient. Whether his work concerns research, education, preventive medicine, diagnosis, or emergency treatment, his appreciation for his fellowman's psychogenetic experience is vitally useful. The editors of this responsible scientific publication have been most carefully selected, and they in turn provide critical selection for each article. The current volume maintains the excellence of patient health-oriented observation characteristic of each of its precursors.
