Seven years have passed since the last edition of this text was published. A number of changes have been made for this newest edition, the most striking one being the switch to a pocketbook size. Actually, the only pocket it will fit into is the one on a clinical coat, but then one runs the risk of developing scoliosis. It does, however, fit rather handily into a student's black bag.

I like the book. It is as good as any text on physical diagnosis, and it is better than most. The overall content and style of writing are quite satisfactory. The methods of examination for each section of the body that are described are well done. The text is generally well-illustrated and easy to follow.

Factual errors are few. Hypoparathyroidism, rather than hyperparathyroidism, is stated to be a cause of band keratopathy. Hippus is mentioned only as being neurologically unimportant. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
