I read with interest your editorial in the August issue of the ARCHIVES (136:865-866, 1976), regarding various medical quackeries. An additional item that I would like to comment on is the use of autogenous urine injections for patients who have allergic disorders and even migraine headaches. Perhaps you are unaware of the fact that during the past year or two, we have had a sudden blossoming of the so-called allergy clinics that have been well publicized by the press, as well as by paid ads. In reviewing the subject of urinary excretion injections, one can only point back to those articles initially published by Orial and Barber regarding proteoseexcreted urine for treatment of allergic conditions. Since there has not been any scientific scrutiny in this mode of treatment, I believe this is one of the most unethical procedures a physician can perform on his patient. Aside from . . .
