The contention of Mayorga et al that the detection of bilateral pheochromocytoma by computed tomography scan has not been reported is not correct. Stewart et al1 and Karstaedt et al2 had single patients with bilateral pheochromocytoma, both of which apparently were detected by the scan. Most recently, Thomas and colleagues3 had successfully localized bilateral tumors in three subjects. There may be other reports. Korobkin et al4 and I, along with my colleagues,5 had failed to recognize the second tumor in one of the cases each. At least, in our patient, the failure in detection was very likely related to the poor quality of the scan (blurring due to subject motion). . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
