To the Editor.
—I am writing to inform you that the article "Cardiac Tamponade and Constrictive Pericarditis Complicating Endoscopic Sclerotherapy" by Brown and Luchi1 published in the December 1987 issue of the ARCHIVES had been published under the title "Cardiac Tamponade as a Result of Endoscopic Sclerotherapy: Report of a Case" in Surgery.2
We regret the duplicate publication and accept responsibility for it. All publications come through my office in manuscript form for my review. Occasionally, in my absence, another physician will review these manuscripts. I presume that is what happened on this occasion, and the physician reviewing the manuscript of Tabibian and coworkers was not aware that the article by Brown and Luchi had already been submitted for publication.
We regret the error.
