Your article is one of the most important publications bearing on the issue of alcohol intake and blood pressure control, and I regret the mistake concerning its country of origin.
I was interested in the contents of your letter bearing on the value of close follow-up of patients with both alcoholism and hypertension.
We are embarking on a study of our hypertensive population in an attempt to gauge the contribution of alcohol intake to poor control in United States veterans followed up at a Veterans Administration Medical Center. I suspect alcohol intake will be a major contributing factor.
