This book is a reference text that will be most useful for urologists and primary care physicians. Endocrinologists will likely find it lacking in depth. The contributing authors are knowledgeable, and the text is well written and reads easily. Normal physiology and biochemistry and the pathophysiology of each topic is emphasized, with only brief discussion of clinical diagnosis and treatment. Each chapter contains an extensive list of references for the reader who wishes to pursue any of the topics in greater depth. The text is divided into 16 chapters covering hormonal pharmacology, male urogenital tract development, and disorders of sexual differentiation, as well as chapters devoted to urologic endocrine-related disorders of the adrenal gland, kidney, prostate gland, penis, puberty, infertility, aging, transsexualism, and renal calculi.
