To the Editor. —
I am writing to apologize to you and to your staff. By now, I am sure that you have received letters from my hospital and from my medical college affiliation and realize that I am out of academics.
As I said, I am sorry. It will not undo what is done, nor do I expect it to. I do want to let you know how it happened, since I am not a malicious person and did not intend to steal someone else's work.
Some time ago, I was asked to give an update on this topic.
