Editorial Changes at the Archives

THE GOAL of the ARCHIVES is to provide current, relevant scientific medical information to practicing physicians. One aspect of this effort has been to improve the quality and speed of manuscript processing, peer review, and editorial decisions.

Many changes have taken place in the editorial office in support of these goals. The previous list of subject areas has been completely revised to parallel the MeSH list of Index Medicus. This allows flexibility for revision as the science of medicine evolves. All of our reviewers were contacted, and a revised list of each reviewer's areas of expertise was obtained. These measures help to ensure that reviewers with appropriate expertise are identifiable and available for each manuscript that is received. Most reviewers return reviews by fax.
