There is a substantial error in the otherwise excellent review article by Messerli et al.¹ In the "Metabolic Effects" section, it is stated that "losartan was reported to decrease insulin sensitivity"; a few lines below, it says, "Since the decrease in glucose disposal rates...." The reference cited² clearly states that losartan improves insulin sensitivity. Moan et al² found that glucose disposal rate increased by 27% in patients with essential hypertension when compared with non-hypertensive controls. . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
