It would be refreshing to read a treatise on the topic designated by the title in which the discussions are made in a relatively simple and clear manner, and without reference to the befuddling terminology existent in the field of immunology during the last twenty years. Such desired clarity is not contained in this volume; in fact, a survey of the literature references quoted demonstrates that most of the text could have been written as well ten years or more ago as in 1925.
