On the whole, the book is well outlined and complete. The chapters on laboratory tests and analyses are good. The author's statements concerning the indications for duodenal lavage (114 pages) and its therapeutic results, and intestinal toxemia (chapter XXXIX), however, are not generally accepted. The chapters on acute and chronic gastritis (XXII and XXIII) and gastroenteroptosis and the symptomatology attached thereto seem a bit overemphasized in the light of present knowledge.
