This book is a compilation of brief bibliographies of men who, as the title indicates, were prominent in medicine during the early days in western Pennsylvania. To the reviewer the most interesting part of the entire work is a quotation from the notes of Joseph Doddridge, written in 1824, edited under the direction of Alfred Williams and published by Joel Mensell in 1896. From the extracts of the notes it is evident that Doddridge was a keen observer and possessed considerable dramatic ability in presentation of his material.
