The sixth and last volume of the revised edition of Osler's "Modern Medicine" is devoted to diseases of the nervous system and abnormalities of the mind. The twenty-one contributors include men who are well known in the field of Medicine in both America and England, and each of whom is an authority on his subject. Among these are Lewellys, F. Barker, Joseph Collins, Harvey Cushing and J. Ramsay Hunt. The introductory chapter on diseases of the nervous system by Barker should prove valuable to the general practitioner. He discusses the symptoms and physical observations of nervous disorders in general, discussing the physiologic background and diagnostic significance of such phenomena. Thereafter each of the major diseases of the nervous system is analyzed completely and authoritatively by the various contributors. The part by Edward A.
