The following article outlines results obtained from studies of the blood lipid of patients after the administration of single pure foodstuffs. It is a sequel of an earlier study1 of normal persons. The investigation includes the quantitative determination of the lipid elements and, also, the iodine numbers of the cholesterol and total fatty acids of the whole blood of patients with organic or functional diseases of the liver.
The development by Bloor2 of the well known micro-methods for the estimation of the lipids of the blood was followed by a number of independent investigations. The few that are of significance in the present investigation will be briefly reviewed.
