This edition has been completely revised under the supervision of Agnes Savill. Many of the chapters have been rewritten by Dr. Savill or by other English physicians, and an effort has been made to bring the material up to date.

The book is fairly comprehensive and covers in a brief way most matters of medical interest. The diseases are discussed from the standpoint of symptoms; the etiology, course of the disease, prognosis and treatment are dealt with later. On the whole, the descriptions of diseases are accurate and clearly written. Treatment seems to be a weak point throughout the book. Many drugs that have long been known to be of doubtful, if any, value are mentioned as being efficacious.
