In his preface, the author states that the book is a presentation in detailed form of lectures on clinical dietetics that he has been delivering for several years. In spite of this, much of the material is given quite briefly. The author demonstrates that he is a student and philosopher; that he has been accustomed to presenting things in a simple form. He has made the subject of dietetics seem relatively easy and interesting. The chapter on diabetes is presented simply and well, but too briefly. The author has striven throughout for simplicity, which often has been accomplished at the expense of the actual facts. The subject matter follows such a definite outline that relatively unimportant things are frequently overemphasized. Case reports are made to fit into this outline often without adequate justification. This is especially true of the ones used as illustrations of derangements of the digestive secretions. Lists . . .
