This book is presented as "an account of thyroid diseases in sufficient detail to be of value to senior students and practitioners of medicine, and even possibly to consultants who may be without special opportunities for the frequent observation of goitrous patients."

The opening chapters of the book, in which the structure, development and physiology of the thyroid gland are reviewed, are of especial interest and value in view of the recent advances in knowledge of these subjects. One chapter is devoted to the structure and physiology of the parathyroid glandules. This is followed by several chapters dealing with detailed clinical, pathologic and physiologic considerations of inflammatory and parasitic diseases of the thyroid gland, lymphadenoid goiter, developmental abnormalities, simple goiter, the hypothyroid states, neoplasms, thyrotoxicosis and the cardiovascular system in thyrotoxicosis.
