This volume, issued by the Harvey Society, contains a number of significant lectures constituting reviews of important subjects in chemical and metabolic phases of medicine. Dr. Julius Bauer, professor of clinical medicine of the University of Vienna, contributes a review, "The Constitutional Principle in Clinical Medicine." Dr. L. O. Funkel, a member of the department of animal and plant pathology of the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research, describes "The Similarities Between the Diseases of the Vegetable Kingdom and Those of Man and Animals." Dr. George W. Corner, professor of anatomy of the University of Rochester, reviews the recent interesting evidence regarding "The Nature of the Menstrual Cycle." Then follows a seventy page paper by Dr. Harvey Cushing, "Dyspituitarism: Twenty Years Later." In this he gives particular attention to the syndrome which he now calls pituitary basophilism.
