This little monograph is the result of observations by Professor Wenckebach made in the Netherland Indies, and such a study of a controversial subject by an expert cardiologist seems to the reviewer of great value. Actual myocardial lesions are described, and an interesting tendency to "right-sided failure" is emphasized. The pathologic and clinical features are discussed in detail, and the text is richly illustrated with photographs of specimens, roentgenograms and electrocardiograms.
