This book emanates from the Second Medical University Clinic in Vienna. One of the authors is chief of this clinic, and the other has done much clinical and pharmacologic work in its station for diseases of the heart. The volume is designed to describe the manner in which heart disease is treated there and to contain as much practical information as possible.
The contents follow a logical arrangement. First is discussed the treatment of heart disease in general; then follow chapters dealing with the management of individual phases of heart disease, such as congestive failure, valvular disease and pericarditis. One of the engaging features of the book is that no time is spent in reviewing the literature. Von Jagi states in the preface that there are already many reliable sources for this information; he wishes to express his own views on the treatment of heart disease, founded on the experience
